[16:45]<@BC_Programming> no
[16:45] * Nat (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) has joined #glitchpc
[16:45]<@BC_Programming> a 3ds
[16:46]<@BC_Programming> 3dsXL to be specific
[16:47]<@BC_Programming> And a few games for it, OOT3d, the new Zelda game, Mario Kart and the mario 3d land one

[16:49]<@BC_Programming> Mostly because my latest piece of console hardware is a Gamecube. Also 3ds could be used for emulation mwa haha
[16:51]<+camerongray> I'm also going mental at buying stuff for my new flat
[16:52]<+camerongray> Need to remember that money is finite
[16:52]<jamer> Also gas is finite too
[16:52]<@BC_Programming> oh you can smell that huh?
[16:52]<+camerongray> hehe
[16:52]<jamer> Gasoline :p
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> What kind of stuff are you getting camerongray
[16:53]<+camerongray> So far bought a pretty nice short throw projector
[16:53]<@BC_Programming> lol
[16:53]<+camerongray> New living room is only 3m wide so my current one wouldn't give a very big picture
[16:53]<+camerongray> It's much longer the other way but has a window either side so can't project that way
[16:53]<jamer> camerongray it has to be short throw since you can't throw far :p
[16:53]<+camerongray> haah
[16:54]<+camerongray> And also planning on getting this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SJB-19-INCH-SERVER-RACK-NETWORK-CABINET-15U-600x600-best-for-office-/271381197772?pt=UK_Computing_Rackmount_Cabinets_Frames&hash=item3f2f9473cc to keep all my network and home cinema stuff in
[16:55]<@BC_Programming> interestingly for what it cost to get a 3ds and a bunch of games, it would have been the same price for a receipt printer
[16:55]<@BC_Programming> those things are expensive
[16:56]<@BC_Programming> I guess because it would be companies and businesses that buy them, not individuals, so they can charge a lot more
[16:59]<+camerongray> Yeah
[16:59]<+camerongray> I also cobbled together possibly the worst PC I have ever built for the new home cinema system
[16:59]<@BC_Programming> oooh details
[17:00]<+camerongray> Had an old supermicro rackmount case spare so used that (since it's going in a rack) and a Biostar NM70i-847 Mini-ITX board
[17:00]<+camerongray> 3 screw holes lined up so that's enough, put tape over the rest of the fixed standoffs to insulate them
[17:00]<@BC_Programming> I'm watching the DVD from the Upgrading and Repairing PCs book I bought yay free DVDs
[17:01]<+camerongray> Then the only 1U PSU I had was only 20pin (But a decent FSP unit) - Just connected the 20pin and it works fine (CPU is so low powered I doubt this will cause an isssue)
[17:01]<@BC_Programming> That's dangerous because the transformers in your keyboard will leak transmission fluid
[17:01]<+camerongray> haha
[17:01] * Nat_ (nat@mib-921C62AC.socal.res.rr.com) Quit (Quit: Bye)
[17:02]<+camerongray> But of course the PSU doesn't line up with the case screw holes, so instead I wedged it in and then superglued an old molex connector pulled off a dead PSU in to hold the PSU in place
[17:02]<@BC_Programming> haha tech support McGyver
[17:02]<+camerongray> Yeah
[17:02]<+camerongray> And then I found that supermicro had a ribbon cable from the front panel that was only built for their board so I had to rewire this IDC connector to work with mine
[17:02]<@BC_Programming> behold http://xx.reddit.com/r/techsupportmacgyver/
[17:03]<+camerongray> Sweet, never knew about that
[17:03]<@BC_Programming> offshoot of the techsupportgore subreddit
[17:03]<+camerongray> ahh
[17:30]<+camerongray> Brilliant! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYu_bGbZiiQ
[17:31]<jamer> I've got two front panels on my desktop
[17:32]<+camerongray> huh? :P
[17:32]<jamer> One goes with my soundcard ... The other the case
[17:32]<+camerongray> Ahh
[17:32]<+camerongray> I'm boring, all I have in the front is my DVD drive which I don't even need
[17:32]<jamer> Guess which one doesn't reach the USB header XD
[17:32]<@BC_Programming> I have a USB3+card reader in addition to my motherboard header
[17:33]<@BC_Programming> I only wanted the USB3 ports but the card reader has seen use anyway
[17:34]<jamer> camerongray see fb for case internals atm
[17:35]<jamer> Yes the sound card front panel is screwed to a hard drive
[17:36]<+camerongray> Ahh lol
[17:36]<+camerongray> I just use onboard sound :P
[17:36]<jamer> Well I have a sound blaster card
[17:36]<+camerongray> ahh
[17:37]<@BC_Programming> Iwas using my PCI X-fi but it caused BSODs when Masterspace tried to access X-Ram so I disabled it and switched back to on-board
[17:37]<+camerongray> I don't have a fancy enough sound setup to warrant a card
[17:37]<+camerongray> Just a pair of Bose Companion 2 speakers
[17:37]<@BC_Programming> It has no X-Ram which is probably one of the reasons it caused a BSOD, though it's still dumb
[17:37]<@BC_Programming> that it would cause a BSOD I mean
[17:38]<@BC_Programming> And I cannot reasonably justify buying a 200$+ Sound card to replace it so I'll probably stick with on-board until I can rationalize it
[17:38]<+camerongray> I can't tell a difference :P
[17:38]<@BC_Programming> I can :P
[17:39]<@BC_Programming> Also it can't hurt to offload some processing to a separate DSP
[17:39]<+camerongray> I could get one but I doubt I'd get the benefit with these speakers
[17:39]<+camerongray> Also bear in mind most of my music is MP3 or streamed :P
[17:39]<jamer> My sound system is a surround sound system from goodwill that cost me 13 dollars
[17:40]<@BC_Programming> I have FLAC and CDs
[17:40]<+camerongray> Ahh cool
[17:40]<+camerongray> I have a surround system but that'll be going in the living room
[17:40]<@BC_Programming> main problem with my Speakers is they are massively interfered by WLAN
[17:40]<+camerongray> It's pretty basic though, may invest in something a bit better. I got it free
[17:40]<jamer> Two towers with multiple speakers per tower and a subwoofer
[17:40]<@BC_Programming> frequent static and crap, I don't think the little volume control box is shielded very well
[17:41]<@BC_Programming> I usually use headphones for music though thus the JBLs
[17:41]<+camerongray> Ahh, mine is just a basic 5.1 system
[17:41]<@BC_Programming> I just have 2.1
[17:41]<+camerongray> I think I'll buy something nicer on eBay
[17:41]<jamer> Mines a 5.1 I think ... Idk
[17:42]<jamer> I can add in more speakers also XD
[17:42]<+camerongray> I'd ideally want tower speakers but that cuases two issues - They are hard to find and not really able to be shipped from eBay :P
[17:42]<jamer> camerongray like mine?
[17:43]<@BC_Programming> tower speakers?
[17:43]<+camerongray> Floor standing
[17:43]<+camerongray> It's just used for movies thouugh so don't need anything fancy
[17:44]<jamer> Well mine are desk ones ... Old ... Yes .... Working nice . oh yes
[17:44]<+camerongray> ahh
[17:44]<jamer> And I can set the mode between surround and 2.1 with a button :D
[17:45]<+camerongray> The main issue with my current system is that it's silver :P
[18:02]<jamer> Mine is greyish white
[18:03]<jamer> Altec lansing
[18:03]<+camerongray> Ahh nice
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> mine is Altec Lansing also
[18:03]<@BC_Programming> VS2421
[18:03]<jamer> Acs500
[18:05]<jamer> Two main speakers are connected by a din connector
[18:05]<jamer> I sent photos camerongray
[18:05]<+camerongray> Ahh cool!
[18:06]<jamer> Old ... I know
[18:06]<+camerongray> Speakers don't really go out of date though
[18:06]<jamer> Not really lol
[18:06]<jamer> Mine has the pro logic stuff built in
[18:06]<@BC_Programming> Oh yeah well I have a 70 dollar game controller
[18:08]<jamer> Still has goodwill sticker on it XD
[18:08]<jamer> 2/24
[18:09]<+camerongray> You don't really get places like Goodwill here unfortunately
[18:09]<+camerongray> Loads of charity shops but they don't do electronics (Safety probably)
[18:10]<jamer> Well there's a 10 day warranty here for electronics for at goodwill
[18:11]<+camerongray> Ahh
[18:11]<+camerongray> Here health and safety is massive so I imagine they aren't allowed to sell electronics without testing them
[18:21]<+camerongray> Electrical items in most companies get PAT tested yearly
[18:21]<+camerongray> Which is funny since there is no standard for PAT testing
[18:22]<+camerongray> At uni they send in professionals to plug in special testers and test stuff. At work we just look at the PC and go "looks fine, no exposed wires, PASS". Both are completely valid tests :P
[18:23]<jamer> XD
